Flat noon light pours through a rehearsal-room window, illuminating a carved wooden stand holding a traditional Chinese erhu. The instrument's dark wood grain contrasts with the pale, late autumn air visible in the background. Behind the fiddle, stage haze layers thickly against heavy curtains and tangled black cables. Dominating the center of the vast concert hall floor sits a teacup the size of a swimming pool, its porcelain rim reflecting the harsh overhead glare. The impossible scale creates a stark visual anchor where the ceramic surface meets the polished stage floor. One shadow stretches from the teacup's base, at the base of the surreal object in the concrete reality of the empty performance space.
