Erhu on Stand Under Circus Tent Night Glow

Strings of warm white lights drape across the dark interior of a Ho circus tent, illuminating an erhu resting on a wooden stand. The instrument's reddish-brown lacquer reflects the soft glow, while its curved body sits against a backdrop of heavy canvas curtains and coiled black cables. Thick stage haze drifts low to the ground, softening the edges of the tent poles and rigging in the deep night. The low angle emphasizes the height of the stand against the vast, shadowed ceiling. Faint dust motes settle on the polished wood surface near the tuning pegs. One frayed cable end hangs loosely against the dark fabric of the curtain.
