Panpipe Musician on Kathmandu Stage at Dawn
by Nolan Goff
Deep shadows cloak a theater stage in Kathmandu as the first light of midsummer morning breaks through low-hanging clouds. A musician stands center stage, holding a traditional Andean panpipe, his figure outlined by a sharp rim of pale dawn that separates him from the dark interior. The wooden pipes of the instrument catch the faint glow, revealing their smooth, weathered texture against the musician's dark clothing. Behind him, the stage rigging and heavy curtains dissolve into the gloom, while the faint haze of cloud suggests an early morning stillness outside the building. The edge of the wooden floorboards near his feet is illuminated, showing dust motes suspended in the thin beam of light. His posture is upright and focused, hands positioned precisely on the reed tubes.
