Early Spring Snow in Armenian Stone Cloister

by Alec Mills

Tall stone arches define a cloister walkway, their weathered surfaces heavy with the soft white of falling snow. Deep shadows pool along the floor, while a thin rim of light traces the upper edges of the arches, highlighting the rough texture of the carved stone. Snowflakes drift gently through the air, settling on the dark ground and the tops of the low garden walls visible through the openings. The season is early spring, yet the air remains cold enough to hold the snow. The perspective looks up from the ground, showing the height of the columns and the enclosure of the courtyard. One snowflake rests on the rough edge of a stone pillar in the immediate foreground.
