Dawn Cap Cloud on Rocky Saddle Near Thimphu
Deep shadow swallows the foreground rocks of a high saddle, while a sharp rim of pale gold light cuts across the upper edge of a dense white cloud resting atop the summit. The cloud forms a smooth, taut cap against the darkening sky, its lower surface textured with wind-sculpted ripples that stretch horizontally. Autumn colors are absent here, replaced by the stark contrast of charcoal stone and brilliant white vapor. Fine strands of mist whip outward from the cloud's base, caught in the sudden glow of first light. The rough, granular texture of the saddle's edge frames the bottom of the image, at the base of the ethereal formation in cold, solid earth.
