Creeping Soil Solifluction Terrace on Pier Railing

Horizontal steel bars of a pier railing support a mound of creeping soil forming a solifluction terrace. Dry, dusty sediment in shades of tan and ochre displays distinct horizontal striations across the earth's surface. A focused projector beam cuts through the darkness, illuminating the textured ground against black walls. Light reflects off the curved metal edges, creating sharp, bright highlights that define the railing's form. Fine cracks appear in the compacted ground, revealing the arid conditions of the dry season. The soil rests heavily on the horizontal bars, its rough, granular surface pressed against the smooth, cool sheen of the steel beneath it.
