Rebar Cage at Dead Sea Construction Site in beside a framed building shell in the Dead Sea

Rebar Cage at Dead Sea Construction Site

by Gloria Ramos

First rays of sunrise illuminate a steel rebar cage rising from the muddy ground beside a framed building shell in the Dead Sea region. The intersections are bound with wire ties, their twisted ends catching the low-angle light. Bar caps sit flush on the vertical rods, while faint footing marks remain visible through the wet, dark mud. A brief sun shower creates glistening droplets on the steel surface and slick patches on the earth. The dry season air leaves the surrounding dust light and loose against the heavy, industrial geometry. The steel bars cast sharp, thin shadows that stretch across the uneven terrain, ending at the edge of a concrete footing.
