Fossil Terrace Sunset Over Salvador Valley

by Breanna Pace

Low-angle orange light strikes a raised beach terrace where weathered sediment exposes rows of ancient marine fossils. The dry season leaves the ground cracked and dusty, revealing rough, calcified textures of fossilized shells embedded in the slope. Jagged rock formations in the foreground cast long, sharp shadows that stretch across the uneven earth. Beyond the terrace, a vast valley floor extends outward, fading into layers of hazy blue and violet under a perfectly clear sky. The horizon line sits low, showing the immense scale of the landscape. One fossil ridge catches the final glow, appearing copper against the darkening earth. The edge of the terrace drops sharply toward the valley floor.
