Stratocumulus Clouds Through Pier Railing Pyongyang
by Rose Sherman
Warm candlelight spills across a concrete pier railing in Pyongyang, illuminating the rough texture of weathered metal and stone. Above the railing, a sheet of stratocumulus clouds dominates the view, punctuated by several irregular holes that reveal deep blue sky. The monsoon season brings a heavy, humid stillness to the air, visible in the muted reflections shimmering on the wet floor below. Golden hour light casts long, soft shadows from the railing bars onto the damp surface. The clouds appear low and heavy, their gray undersides against the bright blue patches. A small puddle near the railing edge catches the candle glow, mirroring the warm light and the dark cloud shapes above. The wet concrete glistens under the artificial light, at the base of the sky in the immediate surroundings of the pier.
