Cold War Bunker Ruins in Sahara Twilight in in the Sahara

Cold War Bunker Ruins in Sahara Twilight

by Jackie Armstrong

Cool blue twilight washes over a crumbling concrete bunker half-buried in golden sand dunes. Heavy overcast skies diffuse the fading light, casting soft shadows across the weathered fortress walls. The structure's portholes stare empty, their dark interiors against the pale desert floor. Sand drifts against the base of the fortification, filling cracks in the gray masonry. Layers of dunes recede into the distance, showing vast isolation. The dry season leaves the air clear, allowing the deep blue of the evening sky to dominate the horizon. A jagged piece of rebar protrudes from a broken corner, rusted orange against the monochromatic stone.
