Coiled Proboscis Butterfly in Late Autumn Light

Hard coastal glare cuts through a fine drizzle, turning a silhouetted butterfly proboscis into a stark, dark spiral against the bright background. The extreme close-up reveals the segmented texture of the feeding tube coiled tightly, its edges sharp against the washed-out light. Late autumn reeds stand blurred in the distance, their brown stalks heavy with moisture. Tiny water droplets rest on the insect's form, catching the harsh afternoon sun and creating a ring of white highlights along the curve. The scene holds a patient stillness, the predator frozen in waiting. One droplet slides slowly down the dark curve of the tube.
