Pale bands of red, orange, and violet form a wide, inverted smile across the high sky directly above the fading sun. This optical phenomenon hangs against a perfectly clear gradient shifting from deep blue to soft twilight gray. Below, the silhouette of a Mali town emits scattered warm lights from windows and streets, marking the turn of the seasons. The horizon line remains sharp, separating the darkening earth from the vast upper atmosphere. No clouds interrupt the view. The geometric precision of the arc contrasts with the organic shapes of the buildings below. A faint shadow of the arc falls across the upper edge of the town's illuminated skyline.
