Magenta Sky Lightning Fujian Fog City
by Elsie Ross
Deep magenta fills the sky above a Fujian cityscape, piercing through layers of low marine fog that rest on the streets below. A jagged bolt of lightning strikes downward, its electric white path cutting across the unnatural violet expanse. The dry mountain light illuminates the mist, revealing the texture of wet concrete and the sharp angles of traditional tiled roofs emerging from the haze. Late autumn leaves, brown and brittle, rest on a foreground railing, against the vibrant, impossible color overhead. The scene remains grounded in the specific architecture of the coastal province, where the surreal sky dominates the upper half while the urban sprawl below stays sharp and detailed in the clear air. A reflection of the lightning flashes briefly on a wet, dark pavement surface.
