Brown Bear Catching Salmon at Blue Hour

Low clouds hang heavy over a tidal inlet in Gansu during late summer, casting a deep blue glow across the water. A massive brown bear stands in the shallow current, its thick fur appearing wet and matted in the dim light. The animal leans forward, jaws snapping shut on a silver salmon that flashes against the dark water. Reflections of the bear and the fish ripple on the surface, breaking the stillness of the blue hour. Mud and small pebbles are visible in the foreground, at the base of the scene in the riverbed. The bear's powerful shoulder muscles tense as it lifts the struggling fish from the current.
