Autumn Quarry Lake Chalk Cliffs Kunming

Pale turquoise water fills the basin, reflecting the harsh late-afternoon sun against steep, exposed chalk cliffs. The vertical rock faces display layers of white and gray sediment, textured with deep fissures and loose debris. Scattered autumn leaves in shades of russet and gold rest on the water's surface and rest on the rocky shoreline. The ground around the lake edge consists of crushed stone and dry soil, against the smooth liquid. Sharp shadows fall across the cliff bases, showing the depth of the excavation. A small patch of green moss clings to a damp corner of the rock face near the waterline.
