Blue hour settles over a narrow Lima street where a street vendor’s cart glows under a single bare bulb, illuminating a stack of white stoneware crocks and a plastic cooler jug resting on the metal counter. The vendor, wrapped in a thick wool poncho, leans over the setup, adjusting a folding stool tucked beneath the work surface. Behind him, the facade of a colonial building shows tile grout darkened by years of damp, against the bright blue twilight filling the alley. A passing cyclist blurs past in the distance, their red taillight streaking across the wet pavement, while the vendor’s hands move with practiced rhythm, preparing a late-night drink for the empty street.
