Morning Light in Lima
by Ravi Medrano
A narrow alley in Lima’s historic center glows with the cool, diffuse light of early morning, illuminating a street vendor’s stall where copper pots catch the ambient brightness against the muted stone walls. Woven mats are spread across a low wooden table, displaying rows of fresh fruit and vegetables that stand out against the earthy tones of the surroundings. A pair of work gloves rests casually on the edge of the table, hinting at the labor involved in setting up for the day. A quiet moment of preparation, with the textures of the mats and the sheen of the copper creating a rich visual contrast against the rough, weathered stone of the buildings.
