Silhouetted Abandoned Power Station Ruin in beneath a broken stone arch near East London

Silhouetted Abandoned Power Station Ruin

by Billy Willis

Bright late-afternoon sunlight floods the broken stone archway, casting the massive turbine hall into a deep, dark silhouette. The heavy steel beams inside the structure stand stark against the pale sky, their shapes jagged and undefined. Dry earth covers the foreground, cracked and dusty under the sun. Damp patches rest on the lower stones near the ground, suggesting trapped moisture in the shadowed recesses. Vines creep up the crumbling masonry, their green leaves against the grey stone. The arch frames the industrial ghost, separating the bright exterior from the enclosed darkness. One rusted bolt on the outer edge catches a glint of the setting sun.
