Windswept Stone Sheep Pen at Haitian Sunset
by Bjorn Weaver
Weathered limestone blocks form a crumbling circular enclosure on a steep highland slope, their surfaces etched by salt spray and wind. Low ground fog pools in the hollows between stones, softening the base of the wall while the upper rim catches the warm, horizontal glow of the setting sun. The sky above transitions from pale orange to deep violet, casting long shadows across the rough, uneven terrain. Sparse, dry grasses rest on the rocky ground, swaying slightly in the breeze. A few dark silhouettes of sheep huddle within the shelter of the stones, their wool matted and gray. The horizon line glows with a thin band of light, wrapping the scene in a cool, elemental atmosphere. The texture of the stone is rough and pitted, against the smooth, milky fog at the base. One shadow stretches across the foreground, marking the angle of the dying light.
