Willow Trailing Branches in Morning Fog in near Adama

Willow Trailing Branches in Morning Fog

by Robyn Nichols

Early morning light breaks through a thick layer of wet-season fog near Adama, illuminating the weeping branches of a solitary willow tree. The tree stands on a grassy bank, its long, flexible limbs cascading down to touch the dark, still surface of a pond. Fine water droplets rest on the vibrant green leaves, catching the first rays of sunrise which cast a soft, golden glow across the mist. The water reflects the pale sky and the dark silhouette of the hanging foliage, creating a seamless blend of earth and air. One branch dips just below the surface, disturbing the mirror-like water with a tiny ripple that spreads outward in a perfect circle.
