Weathered Shipwreck in Split Nave

Bright early morning light floods the roofless stone nave near Split, illuminating a decaying wooden shipwreck resting on the sandy floor. The timber, bleached by sun and salt, shows deep cracks and peeling paint where the hull has split open. Rough limestone blocks form the nave walls, their surfaces pitted by wind and time, framing the skeletal remains of the vessel. Dramatic clouds gather overhead, casting shifting shadows across the uneven ground and highlighting the texture of rotting wood against smooth stone. The perspective pulls attention along the length of the broken ship toward the distant horizon where the Adriatic meets the sky. A rusted metal hinge hangs loosely from a splintered plank, swaying slightly in the breeze.
