Sun-Bleached Shipwreck Hull Amid Dry Reeds in at the edge of a reed bed near Salvador

Sun-Bleached Shipwreck Hull Amid Dry Reeds

by Kenneth Gordon

Hard midday light scours the pale, weathered wood of a shipwreck hull resting on exposed sand. The timber, stripped of paint and bleached by intense coastal glare, sits at the edge of a dense reed bed. Tall, dry stalks of golden-brown reeds press against the rotting planks, their brittle texture mirroring the arid ground. Above, dramatic cumulus clouds cast shifting, sharp shadows across the water and sand. The composition places the decaying structure in the lower third, leaving the vast sky and turbulent water to dominate the upper space. A jagged splinter of timber protrudes from the hull's side, catching the harsh sun and throwing a dark, defined shadow onto the wet sand below.
