Victorian Iron Bridge Over Eritrean Gorge Staircase

Rust-colored iron girders span a deep gorge beneath the base of a monumental stone staircase in Eritrea. The bridge structure contrasts with the weathered limestone steps rising steeply behind it. Raindrops bead on the darkened metal surfaces, creating a sheen that reflects the overcast afternoon sky. The stone steps appear damp and heavy, their rough texture softened by the light drizzle. A narrow river flows far below, its surface disturbed by the falling rain. The composition places the bridge in the lower third, showing the vertical rise of the staircase against the heavy, gray clouds. Water trickles down the iron beams, tracing dark lines through the orange oxidation. The scene shows the scale of the engineering against the rugged terrain.
