Transparent Glass Canyon Morocco Afternoon
by Jose Sanders
Hard coastal glare floods the Moroccan canyon in early spring, illuminating the deep gorge carved by the river below. Dramatic clouds stack high against the azure sky, casting sharp shadows across the arid terrain. The most striking feature is a massive boulder suspended mid-air, rendered entirely transparent like tinted glass. Its solid form remains visible through the clear material, preserving the stone's natural reddish-brown hue while allowing the background river and sky to show through its volume. Sunlight fractures through the transparent rock, creating a distorted view of the canyon floor beneath it. The river winds in a serpentine line at the bottom of the frame, its blue water against the dry, wind-swept rock walls that rise steeply on either side. The transparent stone rests in the upper right third, anchoring the composition with its impossible clarity.
