Cirrus Uncinus Clouds Over Marrakesh Monsoon

by Marquis Fischer

Flat noon light illuminates a deep blue sky where thin, hook-shaped cirrus uncinus clouds stretch horizontally across the frame. Soft diffusion from a passing rain shower softens the white edges of the ice crystals against the saturated blue background. Below the cloud bands, the dusty terracotta tones of Marrakesh appear as a blurred, horizontal strip along the horizon line. Raindrops rest on the edge of a window pane in the immediate foreground, creating a slight distortion over the lower third of the view. The water streaks run vertically down the glass, against the horizontal motion of the clouds above. A sharp line of blue separates the wet glass from the open sky.
