Surreal Campfire Night Gobi Harbor Stone Furniture
by Oscar Lucero
Under a star-strewn sky, a campfire burns beside a dried harbor bed in the Gobi Desert, sending sparks upward through ancient pine branches. The air hangs clear after rain, sharpening the contrast between the warm orange flames and the cool blue shadows. Wooden chairs and tables near the fire have partially transformed into stone, their organic grain patterns preserved within the rough, gray rock surfaces. Reflections in the shallow, still water create a mirrored composition, doubling the glowing embers and the petrified furniture. Lanterns dot the distant horizon, marking the edge of the desert basin. The texture of the stone chairs remains distinct, showing the transition from wood to mineral. One spark lands on a stone armrest, glowing briefly before fading into the deep night.
