Sunrise Over Butte in Early Winter Valley
Pale winter light spills across a wide valley floor where a solitary butte rises in sharp relief against the gray dawn sky. Frost coats the low scrub and dry grasses, turning the ground a brittle silver-white. Strong wind ripples the vegetation, bending the stalks into uniform waves that stretch toward the horizon. The butte’s red rock face catches the first golden rays, creating a warm edge that contrasts with the cool blue shadows in its crevices. Layers of distant ridges fade into the haze, establishing deep perspective. A thin plume of dust or mist lifts near the base, caught in the gale, while the foreground grasses lie flat against the frozen earth. at the edge is the crisp white frost clinging to the bent tips of the nearest blades.
