Salt-stained planks of a weathered wooden fishing boat rest motionless on the water's surface under the harsh, flat glare of midday. The hull, painted in faded ochre and white, reflects the pale blue sky and the white foam of low-hanging clouds hovering just above the horizon. Sunlight bounces off the gentle ripples, creating a shimmering path that leads directly to the vessel's bow. The dry season air hangs heavy and still, visible only in the way the light strikes the rough, salt-encrusted texture of the timber. Dark shadows pool beneath the gunwales, against the bright, washed-out tones of the water. A frayed rope hangs loosely from the anchor point, ending in a tangle of wet hemp that dips into the sea.
