Silvery winter light washes over the wind-scoured ridge in Queensland, illuminating a storm petrel in low flight. The bird glides just above the dark, churning ocean, its wings held steady in a patient, predatory stillness. Deep night dominates the sky, yet a perfectly clear expanse allows the moonlight to reflect off the wet, dark water. The ridge surface appears rough and textured, worn smooth by relentless coastal winds. Droplets of rain hang suspended on the dark feathers, catching the faint glow. The bird's silhouette cuts sharply against the shimmering horizon, its small form balanced against the vast, open sea. One wingtip grazes the crest of a small wave, sending a microscopic spray of white foam into the air.
