String lights cast a warm amber glow over a steel drum performer standing on a wooden festival stage in Cape Town. The musician, wearing a casual t-shirt, holds mallets poised above the concave metal pans. Low-hanging gray clouds press against the darkening sky, creating a soft, diffused backdrop. The stage floor shows scuff marks and wood grain underfoot. Behind the player, festival rigging and cables hang loosely against the twilight. The curved steel surfaces reflect the overhead bulbs in distorted, shimmering lines. A slight sheen of sweat glistens on the player's forearm, catching the ambient light. at the edge is the reflection of a single bulb on the highest ridge of the nearest drum pan.
