Amber light from the setting sun spills across the polished floor of a theater stage in Bandar Lampung, illuminating a West African djembe drummer caught mid-motion. The musician grips the wooden drum with calloused hands, the animal-skin head taut and gleaming under the warm glow. Behind him, heavy velvet curtains hang in deep folds, partially obscured by a haze of stage smoke that catches the dying light.
