Midnight Steel Drum Busker in Budva Street
by Stacy Harper
Warm firelight illuminates a steel drum player standing on a wet cobblestone corner in Budva. The musician wears a light linen shirt, sleeves rolled up, fingers moving rhythmically across the polished metal pans. Red and orange flames from a nearby brazier reflect on the slick pavement, creating shifting puddles of color against the dark night. Humid air hangs heavy after recent rain, visible as a soft sheen on the musician's skin and the drum's surface. The setting is a narrow street lined with stone walls, where the glow of the fire casts long, dancing shadows against the architecture. A small crowd gathers in the dim background, their forms blurred by the low light. at the edge is a single droplet of water sliding down the edge of a drum pan, catching the fire's reflection.
