Steaming Fumaroles on Volcanic Shore at Dusk in along a wave-cut shoreline near Bishkek

Steaming Fumaroles on Volcanic Shore at Dusk

by Laila Pham

Honeyed evening light spills across a rugged volcanic plateau where steam rises from active fumaroles. The ground displays rough, dark basalt textures carved by wind, against the soft, low-hanging clouds hovering near the horizon. Along the wave-cut shoreline, shallow pools of water catch the fading sun, creating a sharp mirrored composition that doubles the silhouette of the rising vapor. The early summer air holds no visible mist beyond the plumes, leaving the dark stone surfaces distinct and dry. Reflections in the still water blur the boundary between the earth and sky, anchoring the scene in a quiet, wind-swept solitude before nightfall fully descends. One white plume drifts slowly over the dark, glassy surface of a tidal pool.
