Starry Sky Through Sea Cave Mouth Auckland in beneath thin cloud gaps and stars near Auckland

Starry Sky Through Sea Cave Mouth Auckland

by Carlos Chambers

Thin cloud gaps break above a dark, rounded cave opening near Auckland, revealing clusters of bright stars against a deep indigo sky. Rough, wet rock edges frame the view, slick with a light drizzle that coats the jagged limestone in a reflective sheen. Raindrops rest on the uneven surfaces, catching the faint silver glow of distant points of light. The cave floor holds tiny pools of water that mirror the celestial canopy above. Dark shadows fall across the rock interior, against the starlit archway. A wet stalactite hangs from the ceiling, catching a beam of starlight that highlights its glistening edge.
