Silhouetted Nook Under Stairs in Warri Hall

Deep indigo twilight fills the ceremonial hall near Warri, casting the interior into cool shadows. Under the sweeping curve of a wooden staircase, a small gathering space forms. Several large, textured pillows rest on the floor, their patterns barely visible in the low light. Two lanterns sit among the cushions, glowing with a soft, warm amber that fights back the encroaching blue hour. Rain streaks the high windows in the background, blurring the exterior world into a misty gray wash. The figures in the nook appear as dark, still shapes against the lantern light, their forms defined only by the rim of illumination on their shoulders and heads. One raindrop rests on the glass pane, distorting the view of the drizzle outside.
