Amber Lantern Light in Wadi Al-Seer Stone Hall

by Ingrid Bennett

Amber firelight spills from a brass lantern resting on a rough stone ledge, illuminating damp grey masonry in the ceremonial hall of Wadi Al-Seer. Moisture beads along the uneven mortar joints, catching the glow while layers of the corridor recede into deep shadow. Humid air hangs low after recent rain, visible as a soft haze against the cool stone surfaces. Scattered dry leaves and loose gravel cover the floor beneath the light, against the dark recesses beyond. The warm flame radiates heat across the immediate foreground, while the back wall fades into darkness, marked only by the edge of the visible cone.
