Rain-slicked cobblestones in the Bab Sharqi district reflect the pale, diffused light of early morning, creating a mirror-like surface beneath the overhang of a traditional mashrabiya balcony. A local vendor, wrapped in a damp wool shawl, adjusts a metal latch on a heavy wooden shop door, the brass hardware catching a faint, cool gleam against the weathered timber. Nearby, a cluster of colorful ceramic spice jars sits on a low stone ledge, their glazed surfaces wet and vivid against the grey stone, while a lone umbrella stand rests in the shadowed alleyway, its curved metal frame dripping slowly.
