Arranging Tiles in Luxor

Dusk settles over a narrow Luxor alley as light rain slicks the sandstone walls, turning the textured masonry into a dark, reflective canvas. A local vendor huddles under a corrugated metal awning, his workspace a cluttered wooden table illuminated by a single warm bulb. Ceramic tiles, likely from a nearby workshop, are stacked precariously beside a chipped saucepan and a bowl of fresh dates. The rain beads on the glossy tile surfaces, against the rough, dry stone of the alley floor. In the background, the silhouette of a temple column fades into the twilight, while the vendor’s hands move quickly, arranging goods against the encroaching wetness, creating a scene of resilient daily life amidst the cooling air.
