Alley Entrance in Alexandria
by Isla Bishop
First light after rain reveals a narrow alley in Alexandria where wet asphalt reflects the pale sky and the faded turquoise shutters of a corner shop. In the immediate foreground, a cracked painted stucco wall frames the view, its texture rough and peeling under the damp air, while a rusted pulley hangs loosely from a wooden beam above. Further back, a local man in a simple white galabeya pauses to sweep water from the entrance with a traditional broom, his movement creating a slight blur against the stillness of the stone steps. A towel edge draped over a nearby rail catches a faint pink spill from the rising sun, marking the quiet transition from night to day.
