Shepherd Dog Night Window Mountain Pass Lhasa

Deep winter night wraps the high mountain pass near Lhasa in low-hanging gray clouds. A shepherd dog stands beside a stone summit cairn, its fur illuminated by a sudden, sweeping beam of white light that cuts through the darkness like a lighthouse. The dog guides a small flock of sheep along a narrow, snow-dusted ridge. In the foreground, a rectangular window frame intrudes from the left, its glass pane reflecting the interior of a room while the glass itself shows the outdoor scene of the dog and sheep as if the window is transparent to the night air. The beam of light catches the texture of the wool on the sheep and the rough granite of the cairn. A sharp edge of the window frame separates the indoor reflection from the outdoor sweep of the mountain pass.
