Bright late afternoon light illuminates a tight flock of sheep executing a sharp turn on a dusty earthen ramp. A working sheepdog crouches low, focused intently on the maneuver near the metal gates of a Jiangsu stockyard. Cold, white breath plumes drift visibly from the animals and the worker standing by the rails, marking the dry winter chill in the open air.
