Shepherd Counting Sheep at Dawn Gate Balıkesir
Mist rests on the low-hanging clouds above a narrow wooden gate set into a roadside stone wall near Balıkesir. A shepherd stands in profile, his hand raised slightly as he counts sheep passing through the opening. The late summer light is diffused and gray, softening the edges of the flock's wool and the rough texture of the gate posts. Dust motes hang suspended in the air, barely visible against the pale sky. The shepherd wears a worn vest and loose trousers, his face turned toward the animals. Behind him, the road stretches into the fog, while the sheep move in a tight line, their hooves barely disturbing the damp earth. One shadow falls across the gate's threshold.
