Samoa Iguana Sunning on Wind-Scoured Ridge Rock

Green scales of a large iguana catch the bright late morning sun on a jagged, wind-scoured rock ridge in Samoa. The lizard remains perfectly still, its body blending with the rough, gray stone surface that dominates the foreground. Humid air hangs heavy after recent rain, visible as a soft, diffused haze clinging to the distant mountain slopes. The sky above is a pale, washed-out blue, stripped of clouds by the dry mountain light. Textures vary from the smooth, wet patches on the rock to the dry, powdery dust scattered across the lizard's back. One shadow falls sharply beneath the creature's belly, anchoring it to the uneven terrain. The background reveals a sweeping panorama of rolling green hills fading into the misty horizon.
