Salt Pillars on Dead Sea Shore at Dawn in near Salvador

Salt Pillars on Dead Sea Shore at Dawn

by Valerie Joseph

Pale, crystalline salt pillars rise vertically from the dark, wet sand of the Dead Sea shore near Salvador. Deep shadow covers the foreground terrain, obscuring texture details while a sharp rim light outlines the jagged edges of the white formations against the dim morning sky. A thick layer of sea haze blankets the horizon, softening the boundary between water and sky into a seamless gray wash. The dry season leaves the ground cracked and dusty around the base of the salt structures. Each pillar stands as a stark, mineral sculpture, its rough surface catching the first faint glow of sunrise. The white salt contrasts sharply with the black volcanic sand beneath it.
