Sailboat Heeling on Australian Ferry Crossing Noon

A sailboat leans sharply to starboard as it cuts through choppy blue water under the harsh, flat glare of midday sun. Whitecaps spray against the hull, against the deep azure of the sea. Snowflakes drift slowly through the air, landing briefly on the wet deck and the white sails before melting. The sky is a pale, washed-out blue, devoid of clouds except for the falling snow. In the distance, the faint outline of a coastline suggests a remote Australian crossing. The rigging stands taut, angled by the strong wind that drives the vessel forward. one drop of meltwater slides down the curved surface of the cockpit, catching the bright light before falling into the churning wake below.
