Concrete Reservoir Tower Mirrored in Corsican Water

by Bobby Taylor

Pale gray concrete rises vertically from the glassy surface of a mountain reservoir in Corsica, its form mirrored perfectly in the undisturbed water below. Late afternoon sunlight strikes the structure from the side, casting sharp, defined shadows that define the heavy geometry of the intake tower. A rusted metal ladder runs up the exterior, showing signs of weathering against the pale stone. Dry, scrubby vegetation and rocky slopes flank the water, typical of an early winter day in the Mediterranean mountains. The water remains completely motionless, creating a seamless divide between the solid tower and its inverted image. At the very bottom edge, the dark silhouette of a small stone marker breaks the reflection.
