Rice Farmers Planting Seedlings in Urals Paddy at Dawn

Misty gray light spreads across the flat expanse of a flooded paddy field where farmers bend in rhythmic rows. Their figures, clad in practical workwear, stand waist-deep in the murky water as they push young green rice shoots into the dark, wet earth. The sky above is a heavy, uniform blanket of overcast cloud that diffuses the first light of dawn, eliminating harsh shadows and softening the horizon line. Freshly irrigated channels reflect the pale sky, creating a seamless surface of silver and brown. Along the edges, the dry season holds the surrounding grasses in a brittle, yellowed state, against the lush green of the new seedlings. The water ripples gently around their legs, distorting the reflection of the workers as they move methodically along the freshly prepared furrows.
