Cool dawn light spills over terraced rice paddies in Gujarat, illuminating a crew of workers navigating bare winter branches. Low-hanging clouds press against the horizon while wet soil reflects the pale sky. The workers move methodically through the rows, their hands gripping shears and branches. Wet mud coats the edges of the terraces, dark and heavy underfoot. Bare limbs crisscross above the green fields, creating a lattice of shadows. The scene shows the practical rhythm of early morning labor before the sun fully rises. A cluster of pruned twigs rests on a worker's shoulder.
