Red and Yellow Tulips in Winter Lesotho Meadow

Hard coastal glare flattens the landscape, turning the winter meadow into a stark field of alternating red and yellow tulips. The bulbs stand in a rigid row, their petals stiff against the biting air. Fine droplets of sea spray rest on the green stems, creating a glistening sheen on the waxy surfaces. The sky above is a washed-out white, merging with the distant horizon where the ocean meets the high altitude grass. Shadows fall sharply beneath the flowers, showing the intensity of the midday sun. The ground beneath is a patchwork of dry, dormant grass and dark soil, untouched by recent warmth. One dew bead rests on the tip of a yellow petal, catching the harsh light.
