Rain Gauge Glows Under String Lights in near Beawar

Rain Gauge Glows Under String Lights

by Lily Murillo

Metallic rain gauge stands centered in a pool of impossible, blinding white light while the surrounding midsummer landscape sinks into deep, impenetrable shadow. Yellow leaves from the squall rest on the gauge's rim, their edges sharp against the darkness. Above, strings of warm orange lights hang low, casting faint glows on the wet grass that cannot reach the instrument. Fine rain falls vertically, visible as streaks only where the unnatural illumination hits. The ground around the gauge is dark and textured with mud and scattered foliage. Beyond the immediate circle of light, the horizon line of Beawar disappears into uniform blackness, leaving the glowing instrument isolated against the void.
